Suffolk County Council have decided to increase the amount of money it will pass on to childcare providers. Childcare providerswill now receive £4.00 per child per hour from £3.87, as the County Council has been able to reduce the amount they will keep from their central government grant for the important safeguarding and admin role that they fulfil.
Therese said: "Last year the Government doubled the amount of free childcare entitlement from 15-hours to 30-hours per school week, giving families more flexibility. As a result of this and the Early Years Funding Formula there were concerns in the sector about the amount of money they received and the sustainability of some of their businesses.
Last year all 7 Suffolk MPs met the Education Minister to discuss the 30 hours policy and funding per head for Suffolk. I also met Gordon Jones, Cabinet Member for Children's Services at Suffolk County Council – and I am pleased they have made this decision."
