Thérèse has organised a seminar for Suffolk Coastal farmers to learn directly from Defra and the Rural Payments Agency on how they can access the Sustainable Farming Initiative and other government funding to help farmers and the environment.
The event on Friday 26th January 2024 is from 10am-noon in a central location within the constituency. Speakers include Sandy Kapila, Head of External Affairs at the Rural Payments Agency, and John Place from Defra.
Thérèse said: “I’m delighted to be able to invite farmers from my constituency to this event. They do vital work in putting food on our plates and protecting the countryside and I want them to use this event to learn more about access to SFI and other funding. Up till now, only BPS recipients could apply for SFI. As Secretary of State, I changed this for 2024 onwards so many farmers, like pig farmers, that were previously excluded can now secure funding.”
Questions can be asked on the day or submitted in advance via email. Suffolk Coastal farmers who wish to attend should email [email protected] for more details.
