Therese has been contacted by a number of businesses that have reservations about the Explore Suffolk Business Improvement District that is proposed for Ipswich and parts of East Suffolk. If it goes ahead, the BID will result in an additional 1.82% levy on business properties with a rateable value over £24,500 to be spent on marketing and other projects to attract more footfall to the area.
Therese said: "It is entirely up to businesses whether or not it goes ahead and a ballot is already open, closing at 5pm this coming Thursday the 19th of October. In my view, the business plan is extremely light on detail so I would encourage businesses that haven’t yet had their say to consider the business plan carefully before voting."
