Therese visited the Schools Out Activity Programme in Felixstowe on Friday with Suffolk County Councillor, Steve Wiles. The County Council has been funded by the government to provide free meals and activities to children from disadvantaged backgrounds during the school holidays as part of a £200m national scheme.
Therese said: “It was great to visit the Schools Out Activity Programme in Felixstowe and talk to those benefitting locally. Whilst the Holiday Activities and Food Programme primarily provides free food and activities to those that receive free school meals, paid-for places are also provided. As it’s Ofsted registered, that means a greater number of parents can also benefit by claiming tax-free childcare."
"Thank you to the Schools Out organiser, Sophie Caparn and Communities Officer at East Suffolk Council, Sharon Harkin for joining us. The County is being supported by the district and borough councils to help provide the scheme right across the county."
