The Government’s £2.6bn Special Education Needs Improvement Plan has confirmed a new special school will be built in the Suffolk County Council area – boosting places for 4- to 16-year-olds with severe learning difficulties. Alongside the new school places, the plan also commits to training for thousands of special educational needs workers so children can get the help they need earlier. To improve parents’ and carers’ experiences of accessing support, the plan will also make sure the process for assessing children and young people’s needs through education, health and care plans is quicker and simpler.
