Therese is hosting a public meeting next week for constituents to discuss onshore energy connections along the Suffolk Coast. This is primarily in response to the current Eurolink and Sealink consultations which are proposing landfall sites, associated cable corridors and converter stations here in east Suffolk. She has invited representatives from the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, National Grid, the Environment Agency and East Suffolk Council to attend the meeting in order for constituents to hear from them directly.
Therese said: “I have been clear and continue to press the case that onshore connections should be placed on brownfield land. We have had some success on that recently, as National Grid are now investigating the Isle of Grain in Kent as a possible connection for the Nautilus project instead of here on the Suffolk coast. However, consultations for Eurolink and Sealink are now live, which propose significant local infrastructure.”
Therese added: “I have also written to the Energy and Planning Secretaries of State about the consultation and planning process. If multiple projects are coordinating infrastructure then these should be considered jointly so cumulative impact can properly be considered.”
The public meeting will take place on Friday the 25th of November at 11:30 am in the centre of the constituency. If constituents would like to attend please confirm by midday on Thursday the 24th of November by emailing [email protected] or by calling 0207 219 7164. You will need to include your name and address. The meeting will be ticketed on a first-come-first-served basis. The venue details will be given to registered attendees. For security reasons, ID may be required and anyone who has not pre-registered will not be admitted.
