The first full data of sewage overflows being used was published recently. As a Minister, Therese worked hard on this issue – including getting full transparency. A year ago, she published the Plan for Water, an integrated plan for delivering clean and plentiful water. Legislation on fines and penalties was put in place and the new Water Restoration Fund is now open for applications.
Therese said: "This fund ringfences the fines and penalties locally such as those within the Anglian Water area, where there is over £3 million pounds available for projects. I think this is a great opportunity for local organisations, including farmers, to get support to restore our local rivers and I will be encouraging the Deben group to apply."
