Therese has had a number of constituents contact her recently about the proposals by Cadent to upgrade the gas main along Ufford High Street. The works were delayed recently because of the impact it will have on local residents and local business and the need to consult the community.
To carry out the gas main work, Cadent are proposing to completely close the High Street for 13 Weeks. Their current proposal is to phase the work, as follows:
Phase 1 - Total closure of High Street between Byng Hall Road and Crownfields.
Phase 2 - Total closure of High Street between Crownfields and Spring Lane.
Phase 3 - Total closure of High Street between Spring Lane and Old Main Road.
Phase 4 - Traffic Lights controlling traffic between Old Main Road and Suffolk Plant Centre.
Ufford Parish Council with support from County Councillor Alexander Nicoll have, therefore, organised a consultation meeting scheduled for tomorrow night. Local residents can drop in at any time to see the proposed plan for the works and to speak to Cadent about concerns. Representatives of Suffolk County Council Highways will also be there.
