Therese has been notified by Network Rail that the level crossing next to Trimley station will be replaced this weekend. The crossing will, therefore, be closed from 4am on Saturday 1st October until 4am on Monday 4th October. The work can only be done while trains are not running, which is why work is taking place over the weekend and during the night. This is to minimise disruption caused to the passenger and freight services on the line.
To allow materials and equipment to be delivered safely, Network Rail has written to local residents asking them not to park near the crossing from Friday 30 September. Pedestrian access will still be available over the footbridge.
To reassure residents, emergency vehicles will still be able to use the crossing while the work is taking place. This will be done by placing boards over it to allow blue light vehicles to pass. Using the boards requires work to stop, which is why they can’t be used to provide vehicular access under normal circumstances.
