Therese has thanked UK Power Networks who have just completed a £425k project to underground 2-miles of overhead power cables to improve the skyline at Shingle Street, within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The works were funded by a special allowance from Ofgem.
Not only does the skyline now look less visually obtrusive, but it has also eliminated the risk of birds flying into the overhead power lines. The underground cables are also better able to withstand winter storms.
