From today, thousands of working parents will benefit from a boost to childcare payments, of up to £1,630 a month for two children, helping them return to work if they wish to.
Therese said: "One of the Prime Minister’s five priorities is to grow the economy but too many people, especially women and young families, experience childcare as a barrier to entering or progressing in the workplace. That's why, from today, working families in receipt of Universal Credit will see their childcare payments rise by almost 50 percent, up to £951 for one child or £1,630 for two or more children per month – thanks to our historic investment package in childcare announced at the Spring Budget 2023 to allow parents to return to work. Breaking down the barriers to the workplace gives families the chance of a better future while doubling down on our pledges to halve inflation and grow the economy."
