The Agriculture Bill – which transforms the way we support farmers – has this week received Royal Assent.
Outside of the EU, we have the opportunity to replace the Common Agricultural Policy with a new system that truly works for the UK. Rewarding farmers for the work they do in adopting sustainable farming practices, safeguarding the environment by creating habitats for nature recovery and supporting the establishment on new woodland to help tackle climate change.
I know this will be a big change for some local farmers, so we are ensuring the changes come in over a 7-year period to give everyone time to plan and adjust.
