New Track to be Installed between Ipswich, Lowestoft and Felixstowe

Network Rail are installing new track between Ipswich, Lowestoft and Felixstowe, meaning that from this Saturday night untilSunday 6th August the line will be closed between Ipswich and Halesworth. Additionally, on two weekends, 29 - 30 July and 5 - 6 August, the line will be closed between Ipswich and Felixstowe for track renewal work.

Nearly 8km of track will be replaced over the nine day period – with a rail replacement service in place for passengers between Ipswich and Halesworth.

I know this significant disruption will be an inconvenience for rail users but the new track will mean a smoother and more reliable rail journey for passengers, which is welcome.
