Residents and visitors will continue to enjoy an important bus route between Lowestoft and Southwold and then on to Halesworth, thanks to a new company running the service.
Therese recently wrote to the Managing Director of GO-East Anglia which operated the Konnectbus 88 Service, raising constituents' concerns about the withdrawal of the route. These concerns were exacerbated by fake posters created and circulated locally which spread undue alarm. Following discussions with the County Council, FirstGroup has now stepped in to run a new 99A service, which will operate on an hourly basis from Lowestoft to Southwold including direct connections to Halesworth. It is due to start on the 1st April when the Konnectbus service finishes.
Therese said: "Many constituents who regularly use this service were understandably concerned about its withdrawal and were upset about the tone of posters being circulated locally which purported to be from the bus company. My thanks go to Suffolk County Council and FirstGroup for ensuring this bus service route will continue. I'm sure local residents will be delighted with the outcome."
