Ipswich and Colchester Hospitals will receive a huge £69 million capital investment to improve services for patients.
The additional cash, announced by Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, will enable the transformation of buildings and services as the two hospitals merge creating the new East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
Therese said: "My recent meeting with Chief Executive, Nick Hulme was the latest in a series of updates where I have been pressing for assurances that the need to fix Colchester Hospital would not detract from the clinics care for patients of Ipswich Hospital. I'm satisfied that has been the case and I recognise the significant benefits this merger will bring."
